Local Democracy Rotating Header Image

Two applications worth looking at

Two things.

Firstly, a commenter on this thread has knocked up some pie charts to illustrate the point using the free Public Tableau app.

Some user-feedback for Public Tableau: Your embed code doesn’t work!

Secondly, further to Andrew’s Poblish posts, I’ve just revisited Debatepedia. I met one of the Debatepedia team last year at the WeMedia conference and I had to say at the time that it didn’t seem to be quite there as an idea. The site looks a good deal more useful now – here’s a useful primer on direct v representative democracy for you.

Hi Paul – Thanks for your comments about pie charts, Tableau Public and our embed code.

Our embed code requires javascript and the OBJECT tag to be allowed. But we know some Wordpress blogs have options set that don’t comply with that. This could be why you’re having challenges with the embed code. Of course, if you think there is some other issue, we’d love to know.

Either way, please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.

    Thanks again.

    I don’t *think* it’s that Elissa – this is a self-hosted ‘wordpress.org’ blog rather than a ‘wordpress.com’ – they do have restrictions.

Hi Paul – Thanks. You’re right – the issue I described does not sound like the issue you’re having.

Our developers are interested in trying to diagnose the problem you had. If you’ve got the time, iI there any way you could try embedding some Tableau Public code on a page and then pointing us to that? Or can you contact me via email and we can capture more information about the problem directly? We appreciate any information and help you’re willing to give.

    Thanks.
    Elissa
