Valituskuoro – the ‘complaints choir’
One of the best comments I’ve found under one of my blog posts a while ago (it was about whinging in comments boxes) said…
“Philosophers have sought to understand the world. The point is to complain about it.”
Here, Peter Levine has a nice post up about the ‘complaints choir‘ in Chicago.

If there is indeed anything can be drawn from the frivolous pretense of traditional culture and character as seen by visitors to this Isle, one might be given to pause and consider:
That a man from the continent gives himself an air of importance by talking, an Englishman by holding his tongue. For manners and modes are more absolute and positive as to swarm and thicken the atmosphere about us, morally and physically the air is denser than in many other parts of this world.
So convinced, have visitors been as to boldly declare that, ‘the English weren’t worth much effort, much less subtlety, since any honour bestowed quickly turns to vanity.’
Damn cheek.
