Why referendums should be banned

Apologies again for the light posting.

I’ve written an extensive round-up of the main arguments (that I can think of) against referendums.

The full post is over on Slugger O’Toole and a slightly edited (shorter) version is on Liberal Conspiracy. Both were published yesterday.

On the contrary referendums, now made possible by electronic media, offer voters a means to correct the arrogance and ignorance of professional politicians while making absolutely clear the real will of the people on any issue subjected to a referendum. UK membership of the EU. Immigration to the UK. The UK justice system. Just three examples of where public opinion and political positions are 100% opposed. If 650 MPs can, as they do, disregard our views how can that be true democracy? Do tell

You appear to have read the title of this post without reading the article that I’ve linked to. If you have, you’ve not addressed any of the arguments in it.
